On Dec. 7, the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) released a Q&A document clarifying the scope of a free appropriate public education (FAPE) following the Supreme Court of the United States’ (SCOTUS) March 2017 decision in Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the level of the decision’s impact on requirements for provision of FAPE for school districts here in Ohio. The new Q&A explains the case and provides a summary of both the SCOTUS decision and prior case law surrounding the issue.
