On Dec. 7, the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) released a Q&A document clarifying the scope of a free appropriate public education (FAPE) following the Supreme Court of the United States’ (SCOTUS) March 2017 decision in Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District.

The SCOTUSblog provides resources relating to the case. There has been a lot of discussion regarding the level of the decision’s impact on requirements for provision of FAPE for school districts here in Ohio. The new Q&A explains the case and provides a summary of both the SCOTUS decision and prior case law surrounding the issue.
