If you have towering piles of papers, bulging boxes of student files, or teetering stacks of outmoded technology storage, and you’re wondering how to manage it all, check out our records retention webinar: I’m drowning in records (but afraid to throw any away).

The webinar is intended to demystify the laws and administrative requirements governing public records requests and retention. It's scheduled for Weds., May 22, at 10 a.m., to coincide with the end of the school year and specifically designed for district employees whose job duties included maintaining records and responding to records requests. It will also give you lots of easy-to-find resources and practical tips.

During the webinar, we’ll cover the four central duties in the public records law and identify the public records that are typical for schools. We’ll also look at requirements for retention and destruction of records and the role of the school district records commission. The webinar will conclude with a discussion of the ins and outs of public records requests.
