The legal division at OSBA hosts many workshops and seminars throughout the year.  These workshops are for a wide variety of attendees and the next workshop is the Sports Law Workshop on June 24 in the afternoon and June 25 in the morning. This event is virtual, so you can learn and ask questions in casual wear.

The workshop will feature a session on the do’s and don’ts of coaching contracts by Dave Lampe of Bricker & Eckler LLP. There will be a case law update with a discussion about technology in sports from OSBA’s own Sara Clark and Jennifer Hardin.  On the second day, we will dive into name, image and likeness with Luke A. Fedlam who leads the sports law practice group at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP.  Lastly, we will be joined by OHSAA’s executive director Doug Ute, legal counsel Steve Craig, and director of compliance Kristin Ronai to discuss the many changes within the association, the effects on member schools, and a deeper understanding of the OHSAA transgender policy.

For the first time since the pandemic began, the legal division will host its first in-person workshop on Aug. 6, 2021 at the Nationwide hotel and conference center.  This workshop is the Attendance, Tuition, and Custody workshop, which is typically a popular event with limited seating.  The workshop will walk through many different issues that schools normally face, as well as the issues schools are dealing with due to the pandemic, shutdowns, remote learning and associated attendance issues.

If you have additional general questions about your obligations or responsibilities under Ohio Laws or a question about an upcoming workshop, please contact the Division of Legal Services at (855) OSBA-LAW.
