OCSBA School Attorney Workshop
Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center, Lewis Center
Friday, Jun. 16
9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

This workshop, open to OCSBA members, and school board members and in-house counsel of school districts that are members of OSBA, provides information on a variety of topics relevant to school lawyers. Join us for a federal update from NSBA, a panel of arbitrators, and a panel of representatives from the Ohio Ethics Commission, the Auditor of State, and the Ohio Department of Education, among other topics.

This program has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 5.75 hours of CLE Credit, with 1.0 hour of attorney professional conduct instruction.

Sports Law Workshop
Embassy Suites, 2700 Corporate Exchange Drive, Columbus
Friday, Jun. 23
9 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with information on the legal issues affecting school sports from both an academic and practical perspective. The workshop begins with an OHSAA legal update with OHSAA commissioner Dr. Daniel B. Ross and legal counsel, Steve Craig. Other topics include discussions of practical solutions for hazing and bullying, booster best practices, and more.

This program has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 5.0 hours of CLE Credit.

Pre-Board Candidate Workshop and Webinar
OSBA, Columbus
Saturday, Jul. 15
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This free workshop, for people considering running for their school board and current board of education members who were appointed to office, will provide an overview of school board member roles and responsibilities and the legal aspects of running for the board.

For those interested, but unable to attend the workshop, an hour-long webinar is available for viewing on OSBA’s website.

An annual favorite, OSBA’s Attendance, Tuition and Custody Law Workshop provides attendees with information on the latest developments impacting the complex and ever-changing law regarding attendance and tuition. This workshop serves as a great resource for attendance coordinators to learn about changes and consult with their peers.

Candidate Workshops, which will be held in each of the five OSBA regions, feature veteran OSBA staff leading board candidates through a concise and valuable program to help them better understand the everyday roles and responsibilities of school board members and the legal aspects of being a board member.

Board Candidate Webinar
Thursday, Sept. 21
1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

This webinar provides information school board candidates need to run a successful campaign. The first half hour focuses on board roles and responsibilities and the second half hour covers campaign finance and legal issues. The webinar is an online condensed version of the regional Board Candidate Workshops. After Sept. 21, the recorded webinar will be available for purchase to watch at your convenience.
