On April 12, OSBA’s Division of Legal Services will host its annual spring Diversity and Inclusion Workshop from 9a.m.-3p.m. at OSBA’s office in Columbus. This year’s spring workshop will include practical recommendations on a number of important and timely topics.

The workshop will begin with a discussion of best practices for handling and preventing sexual harassment claims, including policy and procedure recommendations and suggestions for how your district can prepare for potential allegations from the past. The workshop continues with an in-depth discussion about how districts can implement and develop trauma-informed programs. Led by an expert who has worked with over 150 Ohio school buildings and community organizations, the discussion will include practical recommendations for developing trauma-informed programs to better serve the students in your district.

After lunch, the workshop continues with practical tips for training staff to recognize the signs of human trafficking in schools. A panel of experts will discuss the signs of human trafficking and appropriate procedures school districts can implement to support staff members and protect students. The final presentation of the workshop focuses on practical solutions for bringing everything you learned back to your school district to create and grow diversity, inclusion and equity programs.

We hope to see you in attendance at this valuable workshop! You can register online at: https://www.ohioschoolboards.org/events/view/diversity-and-inclusion-workshop-1.

This program has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 4.25 total CLE hours instruction.
