Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill (HB) 110 into law. The bill makes operating appropriations for the fiscal years (FY) 2022 and 2023 biennium and includes the Fair School Funding Plan (HB 1) as the basis for school funding. DeWine used his line-item veto power on 14 provisions in the bill, including a provision regarding Court of Claims procedures for Open Meetings Law violations, changes to community school sponsors and a partial veto on expedited application procedures for the Ohio Educational Choice Scholarship voucher program. Governor activity
DeWine signed into law HB 82. The bill creates an opt-out for 11th-grade students from the state requirement to take the ACT or SAT and revises the state report card. Click here to read an analysis of the bill.

DeWine signed into law HB 252. The bill enters Ohio into the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact that increases public access to audiology and speech-language pathology services by mutually recognizing other member state licenses. The legislation would allow for telehealth services if allowable under other state’s licenses.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria announced that he will be retiring from state service and resigning as State Superintendent of Public Instruction on Sept. 24, 2021.
