Last September, the Ohio School Boards Association issued a bulletin alerting school districts that the General Assembly had amended Ohio Revised Code (RC) 2915.092 to remove a school district’s ability to conduct raffles.
On April 6, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) may begin issuing two-year reinstatement licenses in accordance with HB 554, which was signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in January 2023. These licenses may be issued to educators whose associate or professional licenses or certificates have expired.

The Ohio General Assembly passed House Bill (HB) 554 in the final days of the last General Assembly. Among other things, the bill changed the definition of “child with a disability” under Ohio law, increasing the maximum age of students who are eligible for services under that category.
