State Board of Education
The State Board of Education voted 12-7 to send a resolution to the executive committee for further consideration. The resolution opposes the proposed changes to the federal rule that would interpret Title IX as banning discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The Ad Hoc Legislative Committee unanimously passed a resolution that would recommend to the General Assembly the repeal of the provision of the third-grade reading guarantee law that mandates retention of a third-grade student who does not meet a minimum score on the third-grade English language arts assessment. The full board will consider the resolution at the November meeting. Click here to read the resolution.

The State Board announced that numerous search firms submitted RFPs for the purpose of finding candidates for the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The State Board will evaluate the proposals as they consider next steps.
