Senate Activity
The Senate is preparing to drop its version of House Bill (HB) 33 on June 6, 2023. Please continue reaching out to your legislators as we advocate for a full phase in of the Fair School Funding Plan and to keep the House’s updates to the base cost inputs with FY 2022 data in the bill.

Senate Finance
The committee held its seventh hearing on HB 33, the state’s biennial budget, with a focus on education topics. OSBA, the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators (OAESA), the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA) and the Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) collaborated to provide two separate interested party testimonies. Read the two testimonies here and here. Additional testimony was provided by:

Senate Government Oversight
The committee passed Senate Bill (SB) 44, sponsored by Sen. Andrew O. Brenner (R-Delaware), which would require a state occupational licensing agency to accept electronic license applications. The amendment would allow state agencies to choose the system used to receive electronic applications for an occupational license, rather than requiring use of one selected by the Department of Administrative Services.

Senate Workforce & Higher Education
The committee held sponsor testimony on SB 104, sponsored by Sen. Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland) and Sen. Andrew O. Brenner (R-Delaware), which revises the operations of the College Credit Plus (CCP) Program, including requirements for students, public and chartered nonpublic schools, public and private colleges, the Chancellor of Higher Education and the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
