Senate Ways and Means Committee
The committee held a first hearing on SB 264, sponsored by Sen. Sandra R. Williams (D-Cleveland), which authorizes a nonrefundable tax credit for a business that assists an employee with the repayment of education loans. In addition, the committee held a first hearing on SB 273, also sponsored by Williams, which reduces property taxes on owner-occupied homes to the extent the taxes increase by more than 10% per year and prohibits school districts, among others, from placing a lien on property for unpaid water charges.

Senate Health, Human Services and Medicaid Committee
The committee held a fourth hearing on House Bill 210, which requires Ohio Department of Education-licensed preschool programs and other entities to screen and test prospective employees for tuberculosis and annually test certain employees for a five-year period. Also, the committee held a fourth hearing on SB 126, which appropriates $5 million to ESCs to assist with hiring social workers or mental or behavioral health professionals and to authorize a mental health professional to provide a crisis assessment to a suicidal minor, without parental consent.
