Governor activity
Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 164. The bill, which originally dealt with student religious expression in public schools, was amended and passed by the General Assembly to address school district operations for the 2020-21 school year. Due to the emergency clause in the bills, the legislation took effect immediately. Click here to read an analysis of the bill.

Additionally, DeWine announced that contact practice for all sports activities will be permitted to resume on June 22. Click here for the guidance document.

Ohio Department of Education
The Ohio Department of Education released updated information on the deadline extension to submit a blended learning model declaration. The new deadline is Nov. 1, 2020. Additionally, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria extended the time a school board has to fill a vacancy to 60 days. Click here to read the memo.
