State Board of Education

The State Board of Education approved the following measures at its July meeting:
 
A resolution to increase the Third Grade Reading Guarantee promotion score from 683 to 685 beginning with the 2022-23 school year. 
 
A resolution to adopt revised learning standards for computer science in grades kindergarten through 12. 
 
A resolution to update the Dyslexia Guidebook as a result of dyslexia law changes from the recently enacted House Bill 583. The updated guidebook is accessible here
 
The State Board also discussed a resolution to consider at an upcoming meeting about hiring a firm to conduct a search for a superintendent of public instruction, which is expected to begin this fall. 
 
Ohio Department of Education
The Department of Education will unveil its Future Forward Ohio website later this morning. The website will provide information and examples of spending and programs related to federal COVID-19 funds by schools. Please visit education.ohio.gov later today to access the website.
