Administrative changes

Superintendents

  • Clear Fork Valley Local (Richland) hired John Thomas as interim superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Janice J. Wyckoff. Thomas is currently interim elementary principal at Lexington Local (Richland).
  • Copley-Fairlawn City Superintendent Brian Poe announced his retirement effective Aug. 1.
  • Independence Local (Cuyahoga) hired Kelli Cogan as superintendent effective Aug. 1. She replaced Ben Hegedish who resigned last month to take a position with the private sector. Cogan is currently assistant superintendent at Olmsted Falls City.
  • North Olmsted City hired Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services Chris Caleris as interim superintendent effective April 16 and superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace David J. Brand who is retiring in July.
  • Wellington EV hired Andrew Peltz as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Edward J. Weber who is retiring. Peltz is currently high school principal at Revere Local (Summit).

  • Mansfield City Interim Treasurer Judy Forney announced her resignation effective April 27.

  • Liberty Local (Trumbull) appointed Hans Kirr to the board effective March 26. He replaced Christopher Brookbank who resigned.

  • Ada EV hired Julie Simmons as superintendent effective July 1. She will replace Interim Superintendent Dennis L. Recker. Simmons is currently director of curriculum and instruction at Elida Local (Allen).
  • Carlisle Local (Warren) hired Robert O. Fischer as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Dr. David S. Vail who is retiring. Fischer is currently the superintendent at National Trail Local (Preble). ​
  • Edgerton Local (Williams) hired middle/high school principal Ben Wilhelm as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Interim Superintendent Tim Meister. 
  • Lakeview Local (Trumbull) hired middle school principal Ashley Handrych as superintendent effective Aug. 1. She will replace Velina Jo Taylor who is retiring. 
  • Rocky River City Superintendent Dr. Michael G. Shoaf announced his retirement effective July 31, 2025. 
  • Westfall Local (Pickaway) hired high school principal Jason Fife as superintendent effective Aug.1. He will replace Jeffrey Sheets who is retiring.

 

Treasurers

  • Ayersville Local (Defiance) hired Chris Ziegler as interim treasurer immediately. He replaced Abby M. Sharp who has taken the treasurer position at Northwest Ohio ESC.

Sympathies

  • Former Columbiana County Career & Technical Center Board of Education member Lou Ann Baker died March 13. She was 82. 
  • Robert A. Bruns, who served as a superintendent at Ottoville Local (Putnam) and on the board of education at Ottoville Local and Vantage Career Center, died March 19. He was 90.

  • Bryan City appointed Lynn Wieland to the board effective March 11. He replaced Scott Benedict, who resigned due to moving outside the district.
  • Geneva Area City Board of Education member Roger Wilt announced his resignation effective March 1.
  • Liberty Local (Trumbull) Board of Education member Christopher Brookbank announced his resignation effective March 1.

  • Barberton City hired Assistant Superintendent Jason Ondrus as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Jeff Ramnytz, who is retiring.
  • Millcreek-West Unity Local (Williams) hired high school principal Steven Riley as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace James Wyse, who is retiring.
  • Mohawk Local (Wyandot) Superintendent Jeff Holbrook announced his resignation effective Aug. 1. He has taken a position with the North Central Ohio ESC.
  • Northeastern Local (Clark) hired Pupil Services Director Steve Linson as interim superintendent effective April 2. He will replace Dr. John P. Kronour, who resigned.
  • South-Western City Superintendent Dr. Bill Wise announced his retirement effective Aug. 1, 2025. He will move to the role of special assistant to the superintendent effective Aug. 1, 2024.

Treasurers

  • Kettering City hired Justin Blevins as treasurer effective Aug. 1. He will replace Interim Treasurer Rick Taylor. Blevins is currently treasurer at Miamisburg City.

  • Hillsdale Local (Ashland) Board of Education member Nicholas Atterholt announced his resignation effective March 12. 
  • Springfield Local (Lucas) appointed Dr. Donald Sigman to the board effective Feb. 14. 
  • West Clermont Local (Clermont) appointed Michael Chumley to the board effective Feb. 19. He replaced David Schaeff, who resigned Feb. 1.

  • Columbiana County Career and Technical Center hired high school principal Jordan Williams as assistant superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Jeremy Corbisello, who is taking the superintendent position due to the retirement of Chuck Adkins.
  • Dayton City hired Interim Superintendent Dr. David Lawrence as superintendent effective immediately. 
  • Kenston Local (Geauga) Superintendent Steven Sayers announced his resignation effective July 31. 
  • Orrville City hired David M. Toth as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Brett Lanz. Toth is currently superintendent at Crestwood Local (Portage).
  • Westerville City hired Angela S. Hamberg as interim superintendent effective Aug. 1. She replaced Dr. Joe Clark, who announced his resignation effective July 31. Hamberg is currently a high-quality instructional materials specialist and certified executive leadership coach for the ESC of Central Ohio.

  • Niles City Treasurer Rhonda L. Baldwin-Amorganos announced her resignation effective July 31.

  • Former Youngstown City Board of Education member Richard “Dickie” Atkinson died Feb. 17. He was 82.

  • McComb Local (Hancock) hired Jeremy Herr as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He replaced Interim Superintendent Jeff Young. Herr is currently middle/high school principal at the district.
  • North Olmsted City Superintendent David J. Brand announced his resignation effective July 31.
  • Perkins Local (Erie) hired Lonny Rivera as superintendent effective Aug. 1. He will replace Todd David Boggs, who is retiring in July. Rivera is currently director of innovation at the North Point ESC.

Treasurers

  • Ottawa Hills Local (Lucas) hired Tom Siloy as treasurer effective Feb. 7. He replaced Interim Treasurer Cajon Keeton. Siloy was previously treasurer at Old Fort Local (Seneca).
  • Xenia Community City hired Interim Treasurer Thomas Massie as treasurer effective Feb. 12.

  • Former Girard City Board of Education member Mary Claire Stringer Barry died Feb. 5. She was 88.
  • Former Maplewood Local (Trumbull) Board of Education member Patrick “Ellis” Yoder died Feb. 13. He was 91.
  • Former Tuslaw Local (Stark) and R.G. Drage Career Center Board of Education member Richard “Dick” Horst died Feb. 8. He was 97.

  • Nordonia Hills City hired Interim Superintendent Casey Wright as superintendent effective immediately. He replaced Dr. Joe Clark who took the superintendent position at Westerville City.
  • Wellsville Local (Columbiana) Superintendent Richard E. Bereschik announced his retirement effective July 31.
